Emiriana Sako Reacts After Tragic Accident in Durrës: A Day of Mourning for the City

The Mayor of Durrës, Emiriana Sako, has reacted with a message of condolence following the tragic accident that shocked the coastal city, where two children lost their lives and another was seriously injured.

In her statement, Sako described the day as one of mourning for all of Durrës, saying that, as a mother, she shares the deep pain of the families who lost their children.

She also emphasized that the tragedy should serve as a moment of profound reflection, not only for institutions, but for society as a whole.

“The loss of two little angels today has turned into a day of mourning for all of Durrës. As a mother, I share the extraordinary pain of the children’s families and extend my most sincere condolences.

Together, we pray for the boy who is currently at the Trauma Hospital, hoping he will overcome this difficult moment and return to his family as soon as possible.

This serious accident must serve as a call for deep reflection, not only for institutions, but for all of us as individuals, parents, citizens and as a society. May they rest in paradise,” Sako wrote in her social media post.

The serious incident occurred in the Spitalla area, where several children were near their home when they were involved in an accident with a “Benz ML” vehicle.

Two children lost their lives, while another was transported to the Trauma Hospital, where he remains in serious condition. According to preliminary reports, the driver of the vehicle is suspected of having been under the influence of alcohol.
